题目:Terahertz quantum cascade lasing in disordered photonic systems

报告摘要:

        Random lasers are a special class of laser in which light is confined through multiple scattering and interference process in a disordered medium, without a traditional optical cavity. They have been widely studied to investigate fundamental phenomena such as Anderson localization, and for applications e.g. as a spatial incoherent laser source for speckle-free imaging, benefiting from multiple lasing modes. This presentation talks about the recent work of developing random laser on the terahertz (THz) quantum cascade laser platform. By designing two-dimensional random dielectric pillar structures in the typical THz double-metal waveguide scheme, multiple strongly localized modes have been achieved at around 3.3 THz. Novel metal pillar with high scattering efficiency and broadband property is also devised and demonstrated to broaden the random emission spectral property, which is the key feature desirable for low spatial coherent laser source.


报告人简介:

       曾永全,中国科学技术大学材料物理专业本科, 新加坡南洋理工大学光电子专业博士,现在新加坡南洋理工大学电气与电子工程学院从事任研究工作。博士期间主要从事中红外、太赫兹量子级联激光器、量子级联随机激光器的研究,取得了多项研究成果。迄今为止,在ACS Photonics, Photonic Research, Applied Physics Letters, Optics Express等知名国际期刊发表多篇SCI论文。
