报告摘要:
Coherent frequency generators, are of great interest in many areas, such as frequency metrology, high-precision spectroscopy and quantum information processing. Key performance metrics include the threshold and conversion efficiency. One strategy to reduce the threshold is to use high performance optical microcavities. This approach has been used with inorganic microcavities to demonstrate continuous-wave pumped frequency comb generation and Raman lasing. However, conventional inorganic microcavities suffer from their low intrinsic nonlinear gain coefficients, leading to high threshold, low efficiency and other parasitic effects.
In this talk, I will first introduce ultra high quality optical micorresonators, followed by two typical nonlinear optical behaviors: Kerr optical comb generation and stimulated Raman lasing. Then I will focus on a new rationale to develop new microresonators for coherent frequency generations. The presentation will end up with an open question on what is the role of organics in nonlinear photonics, and how to address it by taking interdisciplinary effort.

沈晓钦,理学博士。2005年从海南大学高分子材料专业获得学士学位。2005-2008年在中国科学技术大学高分子化学与物理专业学习,从事光响应高分子材料合成,导师为刘和文教授。2009-2013年在National University of Singapore(新加坡国立大学)化学系攻读博士学位,主要研究共轭聚合物的双光子激光光谱与成像,导师Qing-Hua Xu(徐清华)教授。2013-2014年前往UC Santa Babara(加州大学圣芭芭拉分校)做博士后研究,从事特殊有机光电材料合成,合作导师为Fred Wudl教授。2014-至今,在University of Southern California(南加州大学)做博士后研究,研究新型微腔光子器件的非线性光学应用,合作导师为Andrea Armani教授。近年来,在微腔光子器件领域,参与申请及完成多项美国研究基金,包括美国国家情报高等研究计划项目(IARPA)一项、美国国防高等研究计划项目(DARPA)一项(在审)、美国科学基金(NSF)若干项(在审)。在Science,JACS,Angewandte Chemie, Advanced Optical Materials, Macromolecules,Nanoscale等国际著名杂志发表文章10余篇。
