Silicon photonics is playing an increasingly important role in the implementation of photonic integrated circuits for the generation and processing of optical and microwave signals. In this talk, techniques to generate and process optical and microwave signals using silicon-based photonic integrated circuits will be discussed. Specifically, the use of a silicon-based on-chip optical spectral shaper to generate a largely chirped microwave waveform will be discussed. The use of an integrated sidewall phase-shifted Bragg grating to perform all-optical differentiation of an optical pulse, and the use of a silicon-photonic symmetric Mach–Zehnder interferometer incorporating cascaded microring resonators to achieve independently tunable multichannel fractional-order temporal differentiator will also be discussed.
报告人简介:
Jianping Yao is a Professor and University Research Chair in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of Ottawa, Canada. He has been working actively in Microwave Photonics. Prof. Yao has published over 500 papers including over 300 journal papers and 200 conference papers with an H-index of 53. He is a topical editor for Optics Letters, and serves on the Editorial Boards of Optics Communications, and Science Bulletin. Prof. Yao is a Fellow of IEEE, a Fellow of the Optical Society of America, and a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering.
