题目:Subwavelength photonic structures and some sensing applications

报告摘要:

Plasmonic subwavelength structures have been attracting significant interest due to their new properties and high potential for wide range of applications. By varying the metal and size of the plasmonic resonators, we have realized magnetic and electric resonances in the range from long infrared to ultraviolet radiation. We have also utilized plasmonic structures for biochemical sensing. By taking the advantages of plasmonic metamaterials and semiconductors, we have developed surface plasmon enhanced mid-wave infrared photodetectors which can work at room temperature with high sensitivity. We have also developed long wavelength photon detectors which can well perform in millimeter and terahertz wave ranges at room temperature.

 

报告人简介:

Professor Zhang Dao Hua received his M.Sc degree from Shandong University, China and PhD degree from the University of New South Wales, Australia. He joined Nanyang Technological University as lecture in 1991 and is currently full professor. He was Deputy Head of Microelectronics Division and is currently the Deputy Director, Centre of Excellence for Semiconductor Lighting and Displays, Program Director, Photonic Structures and Applications.

Professor Zhang’s research interests include semiconductor materials and devices, photonic structures and applications. He has successfully completed about 20 research projects including the first $10M Competitive Research Program (CRP) of NTU as Lead Principal Investigator. He has published over 460 papers in international journals and conferences, 6 books/ proceedings, and 3 book chapters and also filed 4 patents.

Prof Zhang is the editor and guest editor of 9 international journals, including IEEE Transaction on Nano Technology, Journal of Crystal Growth, and Thin Solid Films. He is in International Advisory Committee of several international conferences and Chair of several international conferences. He is a Fellow of Institute of Physics (IOP), UK and member of International evaluation panel for IOP fellowship.
