报告摘要:

Optical fiber sensors (OFSs) are widely used in research and industry, with applications in physics, engineering, material science, biochemistry and medicine. However, uniform performance comparison remains difficult. Thus, defining fundamental metrological parameters for uniform assessment is urgently needed to simplify comparison. This lecture covers common performance parameters (sensitivity, resolution, limit of detection, selectivity) and other generic ones (stability, repeatability, reproducibility). These concepts apply to all resonance-based sensors, facilitating easier direct comparison of numerous published sensors. The second part showcases state-of-the-art OFS applications in chemical and bio-medical sensing.


报告人简介:

Francesco Chiavaioli received his Ph.D. (2012) from Italy’s University of Siena. He is Senior Researcher and principle investigator at CNR’s Institute of Applied Physics Nello Carrara. His work focuses on optical/biosensors, plasmonics, and nanomaterials for sensing. With 120+ ISI publications (H-index 25, 2620+ citations), he’s in Stanford’s Top 2% Scientists from 2022. He has 15+ invited talks, 10+ lectures, and editorial roles in multiple journals(Elsevier Optics & Laser Technology,MDPI Optics and Frontiers in Manufacturing Technologies)
